I am so proud to share that I am a finalist in the 2018 World of WearableArt™ Awards Show, with my garment ‘Jugs’.
The design is heavily influenced by my Dutch heritage and the link I now have with New Zealand: it’s inspired by traditional Dutch milk maids and hand made from native New Zealand wood.
I cut all pieces individually and laminated them to shape, using tawa and rimu wood. It celebrates breasts as milk providers and the Dutch word for the beam is juk, similar to jug, which I thought also worked nicely with the title. I’m beyond excited that the garment was selected as a finalist.
My garment celebrates heritage, and breasts!
